Frequently asked questions

The questions people usually ask first.

Straight answers about the relationship, your accounts, fees, and what happens after you decide to work with us.

Before the fit call

You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out.

Bring the questions that are on your mind. We’ll help organize the rest and tell you plainly if we think we can help.

What happens after I start working with On Point?

We start by getting organized. You’ll send the documents that matter, and we’ll review your goals, accounts, insurance, tax picture, and cash flow. From there, we open or transfer the right accounts, confirm your Financial PAT, and put the first priorities into motion. After onboarding, your ongoing team keeps the plan updated as work, family, and life change.

Where will my money be? Do I still own the accounts?

Yes. Your accounts stay in your name at an independent qualified custodian. You keep ownership and control of the assets. On Point receives limited authority to manage the accounts covered by your advisory agreement, but we do not take custody of your money.

How does transferring money work?

We guide the paperwork and coordinate the transfer with the current provider and receiving custodian. Many investment accounts can move in kind, which means the holdings transfer without being sold first. Some employer plans or proprietary investments require extra steps. We review those details before recommending changes or creating an avoidable tax bill.

What are your fees and how do you charge?

On Point is fee-only and fiduciary. Investment-management fees start at 0.10% of managed assets per month. On Point+ planning and tax-preparation fees start at $100 per month and may be higher when the relationship is more complex. Fees are stated clearly before you hire us. You can review the full current schedule on our pricing page.

How do you justify your fee?

The fee is for an ongoing relationship that keeps the whole financial picture connected. That includes planning, investments, implementation, and proactive tax work where the service applies. The value is not another binder on a shelf. It is having a team follow through, adjust the plan, and help you make decisions without becoming your own full-time financial advisor.

Does Ben personally oversee every client?

Ben helps set the planning philosophy and service standards, but clients are not left waiting on one person. Each ongoing relationship is supported by a coordinated team with a Lead Advisor as the main point of contact, plus client-service and tax support. The team works from the same plan and communicates behind the scenes.

How do you handle tax planning?

We plan ahead instead of waiting until filing season to explain what already happened. Depending on your situation, that may include projections, withholding, estimated payments, entity decisions, retirement contributions, and investment tax strategy. Tax preparation is available only to eligible ongoing On Point+ or On Point SRNA clients. It is not offered as a stand-alone or one-time tax service.

Do I have enough money to become a client?

There is not one magic account balance that makes someone a good fit. We look at the complexity of your financial life, the help you need, and whether you are ready to delegate and consolidate the accounts we can responsibly manage. The short questionnaire is the easiest way to find out. If we are not the right fit, we’ll tell you plainly.

“…whenever we talk about wealth and investing, always get asked who my financial planner is… Ben’s my guy! He’s amazing at what he does and takes the time to explain things and strategies whether you’re a beginner or advanced in the financial realm. Cannot recommend Ben enough! He’s made the transition from W2 to 1099 so much easier on me and I honestly couldn’t be more excited about we have accomplished and still have yet to accomplish together! 👏🏼”

“…. I started working as a 1099 CRNA last year and was not sure how to navigate all the demands of keeping records and filing taxes as a PLLC. My husband is a farmer so is self employed as well. Ben was able to help both of us consolidate our funds and optimize our investments. Anytime I have a question I email Ben and he is quick to reply and help in whatever way he can.”
